Announcer: "Today we are going to
explore the beautiful and hidden world of...the chibi! This rare creature has
been around for centuries, but hadn't been discovered until only recently. What
habits do these tiny animals carry? What dangers threaten them? Come with us as
we find out."
[Camera shows a thick, wooded forest. Pans in. Within the foliage can be seen
little creatures running, bouncing, and several winged ones flying around. These
are the chibis!]
An.: "The first species of chibi to be discovered was the Seigaku.
Distinguished by their red, white, and blue markings, they come in several
different breeds with many different personalities."
[Cut to a view of a small hole in the ground. Cautiously, a small green and
white head peeks out, hisses, then ducks back in. A moment later it does it
again.]
An.: "This little chibi is called the Kaidou. They're known for the odd
hissing sound they make, meant to ward off anything that approaches it. At first
it was thought that they were mean, but studies have shown that this is actually
done because they are shy. Only those who've paid close attention to this breed
tend to realize this."
[Zooming out shows a chibi with coarse, black fur and large eyes watching the
hole. The Kaidou again pops out, sees the other chibi, and goes back down. The
other chibi watches intently, but doesn't move.]
An.: "The Inui is the type of chibi who just so happens to pay that close
attention to everything. They spend most of their time watching other life
forms, using the information they gather to aide them in hunting and gathering,
protecting the species, and mating."
[The Kaidou-chibi goes up and down again, and the Inui takes the chance to
run and dive into the hole after the Kaidou goes down. There is squeaking and
hissing, some dirt flies out of the hole, then all is silent.]
An.: "This lucky Inui was able to succeed in catching a Kaidou for a mate,
which is usually the case. Inuis generally have the easiest time with the
Kaidous because of their familiarity of the Kaidou's habits."
[Scene changes to a worried-looking chibi with a round head and green eyes
flying back and forth around a nest of even smaller, red-headed chibis. The
chibi chibis are bouncing all over, some even bouncing right out of the nest!
But are always caught just in time and returned to their home.]
An.: "Ah, marvelous! We seem to have stumbled upon a mother Oishi-chibi.
And by the looks of it, the father must have been a Kikumaru. These two breeds
get along especially well; the Kikumaru is a very energetic chibi, and few
others can cope with its bouncy nature. The Oishi, with its extreme gentleness
and patience, seems to be one of the only kinds to be able to put up with its
antics. Though the Oishi tends to worry a lot, it's proven to be beneficial in
keeping the Kikumaru [mostly] out of trouble."
[The camera pans back to show the nest is on a high branch of a tall tree. A
full-sized Kikumaru-chibi is standing on the ground, looking at the nest, then
suddenly springs into the air, does a flip, and lands perfectly on the nest's
edge. The Oishi and Kikumaru chibis begin to cuddle.
Cut to a shot of a short-haired chibi looking shy and peeking through some tall
grass.]
An.: "The Kawamura is the only chibi yet to be discovered to come in two
distinctly different personality types. This little fellow seems to be the shy
Type One, quiet and unassuming. They're generally very friendly, and recently
people have begun to adopt them as pets. Don't be mistaken though, the Kawamura
Type Two is extremely fierce and unusually strong. Though there aren't any
documented cases of one of these attacking, they will show aggression and bare
their fangs with little to no provocation. You can tell the difference between
the two types by Type Two's peculiar call."
[Camera shows close-up of the Kawamura-chibi's face. There is anxiety and
longing in its eyes. Then cut to the chibi's view through the tall grass. It
seems to be looking at another chibi, a happy-looking one with light-brown fur
and closed eyes.]
An.: "Ah, it seems the Kawamura has found a potential mate. Little is known
about the Fuji-chibi. They appear to be gentle in nature, which might be why
this Kawamura is drawn to it, but some say they can be vicious if necessary.
Rumor has it they have eyes of the most brilliant blue, but it's very difficult
to catch them when they're open. Let's see what the Kawamura does."
[After moments of hesitation, the Kawamura-chibi slowly approaches the Fuji,
who sees it but doesn't make a move. Before they can meet, a second Kawamura-chibi,
a Type Two, comes running at it. It shouts its call of "BUUUURNIIIING!!"
and then tackles the Type One. The Fuji looks on curiously as the two fight for
dominance.]
An.: "This Type One Kawamura is out of luck today. He'll have to fight to
claim his mate. But that is the way of the chibi."
[View changes to the treetops, where a dark, spiky chibi is making astounding
leaps from branch to branch. After a moment it becomes clear it is chasing
something - a winged chibi with a white head that resembles a hat.]
An.: "This playful chibi, known as the Momo, is renowned for its jumping
abilities. It has a happy disposition, and there are very few chibis it doesn't
get along with. Even this little Ryoma, a loner breed, seems to enjoy the
company."
[The Momo finally catches its prey, pouncing on the Ryoma and pinning it down
with a triumphant "dun!" The Ryoma-chibi scowls and pushes the bigger
chibi off, then picks it up and carries it high into the air. The camera pans
back to show just how high the two chibis are above the treetops when the Ryoma
suddenly lets the Momo go. The Momo squeaks loudly as it falls, but is caught
again by the Ryoma before hitting the ground.]
An.: "Despite being bigger in size, the Momo is often seen getting picked
on by the Ryoma. It may be because of this that the Momo is one of the only
breeds the Ryoma allows to get close to it."
[The Momo-chibi is throwing a chibi-fit, waving little fists and squeaking
irately. The Ryoma gives a "mada mada dane," then takes off flying
amongst the trees. The Momo follows, and it starts all over again.
The next view is of a stern-looking chibi with large feathered wings, flying
around as though surveying the area. There are markings on its face around sharp
little grey eyes.]
An.: "Oh, a special treat! The Tezuka-chibi is extremely rare; only a few
have ever been seen. Because they are extreme loners, any potential mates have a
hard time getting close to the Tezuka, and so their numbers are scarce. They are
also known to be rather territorial, and as the established leader of the
Seigaku species of chibi they spend much of their time scouting the marked
region, chasing away any potential enemies."
[Something catches the attention of the Tezuka-chibi, and it suddenly stops
and tenses up. Every chibi-muscle is still except the flapping of its wings.
From out of the brush comes another chibi of an obviously different species. It
has silver fur and large bat-like wings on its back. The two chibis confront one
another, sizing each other up, then the second chibi begins ruffling its hair.]
An.: "An intruder has appeared! The light-blue and white markings reveal it
to be of the Hyotei, and this particular chibi, called the Atobe, happens to be
the alpha-chibi of that species. It might be out to claim more territory, but
the way it's preening might also mean it's looking for a mate. This little Atobe
is in for a surprise if it thinks it's going to catch a Tezuka so easily."
[The two chibis start fighting. They fly around each other, looking for weak
spots to attack and trying to knock each other out of the air. The Atobe squeaks
furiously as they battle, while the Tezuka remains silent. Eventually the
Atobe-chibi is able to slam the Tezuka-chibi into a tree, crushing its left
wing. It starts to fall, but miraculously catches itself, resting for a
split-second on a tree branch before taking flight again. However, in its
weakened state it cannot fight as well, and before long the Atobe has grasped
both its arms and takes off flying at top-speed. The Tezuka has been kidnapped!]
An.: "The Atobe was after a mate after all, and it has caught the Tezuka in
a rather surprising way. Where is it taking its captive, and what will it
do?"
[Camera cuts to a picture of a dense rainforest, where many light-blue and
white marked chibis are zipping about.]
An.: "We'll find out next week! Join us when we enter - The Forest of the
Hyotei!"
[Fade to black.]
